The Power Of Positivity
How sensitive are horses to your energy and mood

Positivity to start the day

In today’s fast-paced and often stressful world, the power of positivity cannot be overstated. So many of us live under pressure, pressure from different sources, but pressure nonetheless.

Those pressures might be financial, getting up in the cold and dark, coping with adverse weather conditions, having a loved one receive a poor medical diagnosis; so many possibilities.

Consciously starting your day creating moments where you lift the ceiling of pressure and help yourself feel lighter both supports and enhances your wellbeing, and helps you develop resilience.

Why positivity is important

Positivity is more than just a mindset; it becomes a way of life that can transform your overall well-being. Learning to embracing positivity means finding good in every situation, which can sometimes be more than challenging!

Positivity is empowerment

Cultivating and practicing gratitude, finding that one teeny thing to be positive about, can pull you through difficult times.

As have so many others in recent times, here at Highlands Centre For Healing, we’ve experienced torrential rains. With the water table coming out of the ground we had lakes where we haven’t had them before! After ensuring all the animals were OK and that the draining channels leaving the property were running freely, I reflected on what I was grateful for as I sploshed my way home.

Despite the lakes and abundance of water, in reality we weren’t negatively affected. Everyone was OK, no buildings or contents were damaged and I found gratitude for full water tanks, veges growing in raised beds (which were therefore not swimming), and the solar system generator that worked overtime faithfully over the wet days.

How positivity affects your life

As a Trauma-trained Somatic Practitioner and Counsellor, over the years, I’ve had sessions with clients who’ve walked in looking like Eeyore with his dark grey cloud … and who have walked out more like Tigger with a positive spring in their step … and all because we explored things to be grateful for and experienced the power of positivity.

Scientific studies have shown that positive thinking can lead to numerous health benefits. It can reduce stress, lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and improve mental health. It is recognised that people who can be positive tend to have better coping skills during hardships and are more resilient in the face of adversity. This resilience not only helps in overcoming difficulties but also enhances overall life satisfaction and happiness.

Positivity also fosters better relationships. When you approach interactions with a positive attitude, you’re more likely to build stronger connections and experience more fulfilling relationships. People are naturally drawn to those who exude positivity, making social and professional networking more effective.

A positive outlook can significantly enhance your creativity and problem-solving abilities, leading to greater innovation and success. Employers often value positive individuals as they contribute to a healthier, more productive work environment. [Can you think of the office clown who brightens even the darkest day?!]

Building positivity into your daily routine

Building positivity into your daily routine can be simple and easy.

  • Start by practicing gratitude—make a habit of acknowledging and appreciating the good things in your life.
  • FEEL into it.
  • Surround yourself with positive influences, whether they are people, books, or experiences.
  • Set realistic goals and celebrate small victories along the way.
  • Mindfulness and meditation can also help you stay focused on the present moment and maintain a positive perspective.

I invite you to embrace positivity and watch as it transforms your world.
